This is just a continuation of the previous article on pork.
Dutch designer Christien Meindertsma decided to document all products traced to an actual pig from a farm in Netherlands, the pig identified by an ear tag 05049 . Christien Meindertsma published a book describing each derivative product that came from this very pig, an astonishing 185 products in total. In addition to the expected meat products Christien Meindertsma found that:
- calcium from the bones was used to fortify yogurt
- the pig’s nose, after being deep-fried, became a dog snack
- pig fat used to make automobile paint
- hemoglobin from pig blood is used in cigarette filters
- bone ash went into train brakes
- bone meal into the coating for aluminum molds
- gelatin from the pig’s skin and bones was deployed by an American weapons manufacturer to help distribute powder to bullets
- fatty acids derived from pork bone fat are used as a hardening agent in crayons and also give them distinctive smell
- medicine
- photo paper
- heart valves
- chewing gum
- porcelain
- cosmetics
- conditioner
- bio diesel
- Lard in soap
Many of these uses are probably okay to use. However, many of the uses are for ingestion which is forbidden according to Scripture and also terribly bad for your health, as seen in the previous article. I have highlighted a few of the uses that are ingested when we use them.
